| | Yesterday, after a day's work but still full of energy, me and my concert buddies Pacel & Dhon went to Magic 89.9 Fund Raising Concert at Eastwood, Libis. We were late, but we had fun listening to Mayonnaise's last few lines, Rivermaya, Itchyworms and Sugarfree. Dhon even had a chance to jam with Rivermaya when he was called to sing some parts of "Umaaraw Umuulan" with them. Pacel and I gave a Dhon a little push (parang tusok lang), and there he was at the stage performing. Enjoy viewing some pics! |

Filmed on September 2001 at Slane Castle, Co. Meath, Ireland.
The concert has more simple stage design than their 1993 Zoo TV Concert. But, the song line-up, crowd and the dramatic backdrop (Slane Castle) were spectacular! U2 performed without annoying dancers and fancy make-up, I was able to concentrate on their songs. I was entertained! Wuhooh~wuhooooh!

Pop and classical singer Josh Groban made his debut in the seventh grade, but then put music aside for a few years until he enrolled at the Interlochen Arts Program. In late 1998, he hooked up with a friend of his vocal coach, producer/writer/arranger David Foster. In 2006, Groban released his third studio album, Awake, featuring guest appearances by the vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo and jazz pianist Herbie Hancock. The holiday-themed Noel followed in 2007. *Under negotiation

Madonna has broken every available radio, video, sales, and box-office record, racking up no fewer than 29 Top Ten singles, 11 of those reaching No. 1. Her most recent chart topper, 1994's "Take A Bow," lodged in the top spot for seven consecutive weeks and beat the performance of her 1984 breakthrough, "Like A Virgin," which had a six-week run at the top. All told, Madonna's No. 1 and No. 2 singles have spent a total of 40 weeks at the top of the charts -- almost a solid year of uninterrupted hits. In one period in the late eighties, she racked up six straight Top 5 singles, beating the Beatles' old record for back-to-back chart toppers. *Under negotiation

Bublé has certainly achieved success on that front. As with his previous two 143/Reprise bestsellers, 2003’s self-titled debut and 2005’s multi-platinum follow-up It’s Time, Call Me Irresponsible boasts more of Bublé’s buoyant, modern interpretations of standards from a variety of eras, including songs by such greats as Leonard Cohen, Eric Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, and others, as well as two self-penned originals, including the first single, the uplifting love song called “Everything.” *Under negotiation
Dave Matthews Band (also known by the acronym DMB) is a United States-based alternative rock band, originally formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Dave Matthews. Other band members include saxophonist LeRoi Moore, bassist Stefan Lessard, electric violinist Boyd Tinsley and drummer Carter Beauford. Since 1998 the band has performed most of their shows with keyboardist Butch Taylor who, while not an officially named member of the band, is a fixture on stage. For 2006 and 2007, the band added trumpet player Rashawn Ross — most noted as the live trumpet player for Soulive — to the stage. It is not yet known if his presence will be permanent. Moore, Beauford, Ross, Tinsley and Taylor also perform backup vocals.

Damian Marley, was born on July 21, 1978 in Kingston, Jamaica, and is the youngest male child of reggae legend Bob Marley, and the only child born to Marley and Cindy Breakspeare, the Miss World 1976. Damian's nickname is Junior Gong which is derived from his father's nickname of Tuff Gong. A talented artist in his own right, Damian has been performing since the age of 13. He shares with his brothers and sisters a full-time career in the Marley family business, music. Unlike his brothers and sisters, however, his musical specialty is "deejaying", the Jamaican style of "rapping" which some consider a predecessor of modern hip-hop. He is very much at home in this element, as his stage presence attests, and he is also an adept song-writer. Damian frequently tours with his brothers Julian and Stephen, who are both members of the Ghetto Youths Crew, their own band. *Under negotiation

MATCHBOX TWENTY was named Best New Band in the 1997 Rolling Stone Readers Poll, and they followed the enormous success of “YOURSELF…” with two more multi-platinum sets — 2000’s “MAD SEASON BY MATCHBOX TWENTY” and 2002’s “MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE.” Among their many accolades are five Grammy nominations and three American Music Award nominations, while Rob Thomas has earned three Grammy Awards, 11 BMI Awards, and has been twice named Billboard’s Songwriter of the Year.

Harry Connick, Jr. (born September 11, 1967) is an American singer, pianist, actor, and humanitarian. His music encompasses jazz, some of it very much in the style of the crooners of the 1940s and early '50s, funk and blues.
As useless I've another bruise from covering a rock event (yeah, again!) last night called Parental Guidance II held at the Ampi Theater Riverbanks Marikina City. But this time it isn't because of the commotion, just plain clumsiness while going up a steep stairs to the stage. I learned another lesson, bring shinguards next time with futbol socks for added protection. Ngyahahaha!!!
My feet ached again from all those walking, and it's soaked wet from the rain. I guess it's another feet-aching weekend for me. But I'll still play futbol tomorrow, hope it won't rain. I miss futbol so much, DAMN!
Oh yeah, I think some of those rock fanatic kids (I'm getting older na yata talaga) are familiar with me already. Sometimes whenever I go up the stage, some would clap their hands and cheer for me. I feel like the sixth member of some bands. =D
Besides listening to the music and capturing those moments, I also enjoy observing the scene. Although there's always slammin', bouncers, some bands I've seen perform before, music I've heard before, new experiences goes along with it. A high school friend once asked what motivates me to go to this kind of event (other than the extra income). I answered, it's simply because I learn more about people--their reactions, the music they want, trends and some things about life.
I get really tired almost burned out after covering events, but experiences are irreplaceable, it only happens once.
