Dawn (Jess Weixler) is an innocent high school student active in her school's chastity group. She became close with the group's newest member Tobey (Hale Appleman), who became aggressive to her, and became the first victim of her unique anatomical gift. Shaken by the incident, she consulted a doctor and found out that she is a living example of vagina dentata* myth.

A unique film with a unique story, I find it entertaining and a bit scary. It made me squirm in some parts where severed male parts were squirting with blood (graphic ba?). Good casting, Jess Weixley's innocent face fits Dawn's character; she has good acting skills, so does the rest of the cast.

Vagina dentata is Latin for toothed vagina. Various cultures have folk tales about women with toothed vaginas, frequently told as cautionary tales warning of the dangers of sex with strange women.

Sa gitna ng aking pagmumuni-muni habang nagmi-midnight snack, natagpuan ko na lang ang sarili kong nire-review ang Tekki Yakiudon Chili Crab Flavor.

Nakalagay sa karaniwang sukat ng cup pang-mami, may oil, chili oil at flavoring powder. Niluluto tulad ng instant mami pero tinatanggalan ng tubig after 3 minutes at saka ilalagay ang mga flavorings. Pagkatapos ay hahaluin hanggang maging orange ng noodles.

Masarap siya, lasang Chili Crab tulad ng special recipe ni Baby~Jane. Masarap gawing snack kapag nagmo-movie marathon o nag-i-internet o nakatunganga. Bitin siya pero ayaw ko namang sumobra pa ang dami ng serving nito. Nakakaumay na 'yun tulad ng mga foreign noodles. Gawa ito ng Zest-O Corporation, kaya may tamang anghang para sa panlasang Pinoy. Angkop ang kanyang slogan na "Satisfy you craving in an instant", na-satisfy nga niya ang craving ko sa Chili Crab ni Baby~Jane, na pagkasarap-sarap pero tuwing may espesyal na okasyon ko lang natitikman.

Mabibili sa halagang Php19.00 isang cup sa grocery. Regular size lamang walang small. May ibang flavor din ito, Garlic Chicken pero hindi ko pa natikman 'yun.

Padre Amaro, a recently ordained priest is sent to help an aging priest run a small parish church in rural Mexico where he finds one of the local priests engaged in money laundering and an affair with a local woman, and another ministering to revolutionaries. He meets Amelia, a beautiful young woman with a religious passion that borders on obsession. Her passion for her faith becomes entangled in a growing attraction to the new priest. But when the handsome priest crosses the line that separates temptation from sin, he finds himself torn between the divine and the carnal, the righteous and the unjust.

When Padre Amaro found out Amelia's carrying his child, he asked forgiveness and seek divine intervention for his problems...a miracle that will make everything go away. Amelia agreed to abort the baby, and he brought her to an illegally run clinic. During the procedure, Amelia bled profusely and eventually died while Padre Amaro's trying to bring her to another hospital. It was a painful scene, my cousin and I can't help saying "Hala, lagot...pa'no 'yan?"

The next morning, as if Padre Amaro's prayers were answered, the rumors running the mill was that he saved Amelia from aborting a baby, and the father of the child was Amelia's ex-boyfriend who left the town. Padre Amaro carry on serving the community and the church.

A good film to discuss, I got different reactions from those who watched this film, others ended up debating.

The concert has more simple stage design than their 1993 Zoo TV Concert. But, the song line-up, crowd and the dramatic backdrop (Slane Castle) were spectacular! U2 performed without annoying dancers and fancy make-up, I was able to concentrate on their songs. I was entertained! Wuhooh~wuhooooh!

Ang endo ay pinaikling tawag sa end of contract. Madalas ang may eksenang ganito ay mga kontraktwal na namamasukan tulad ng saleslady/man, waiter, packer, etc. Matapos ang anim na buwang kontrata ng pamamasukan ay panibagong paghahanap ng trabaho na naman ang kakaharapin, walang katiyakan, walang kasiguraduhan.

Sa Endo. ipinakita ang pagkakaroon ni Leo (Jason Abalos) ng iba't ibang ka-relasyon sa bawat napasukan niyang trabaho. Ang bawat isa ay nag-iwan ng magandang alaala sa kanya. Sa mga unang relasyon niya ay mababaw ang pananaw niya sa pag-ibig, buhay at pangarap. Pero ng makilala niya si Tanya (Ina Feleo) na walang materyal na iniwan sa kanya ngunit puno naman ng pangarap at pag-asa, nagbago ang pagtingin ni Leo sa buhay.

Ang pelikula ay may simple at magandang kwento, realistic nga sabi ng mga kasama ko. Walang special effects pero mae-entertain ka pa rin. Gumamit ang Endo ng mga bagong musika mula sa Ang Bandang Shirley (at iba pa) na bumagay naman sa pelikula.

Sana ay makapanood pa ako ng mga ganitong klase ng pelikula.

Akalain mong si Bob Ong ang sumulat ng aklat na 'yun! Hindi talaga ako makapaniwala dahil mas kilala ko siya bilang makwelang manunulat sa Paboritong Libro ni Hudas, Bakit Baligtad Magbasa ang mga Pilipino?, atbp.

Noong Miyerkules habang ritwal na nilalakbay ang Gateway, at nagsha-shoplift ng ideas sa Fully-Booked, ako'y napasulyap sa isang shelf at naakit sa aklat na may pabalat na pula at itim, ang paborito kong kulay. Malapot at malamig na pawis ang gumuhit sa aking noo, bibilhin ko ba ito o bibilhin?

Isang linggo mahigit ko ring pinakatitipid-tipid ang labi ng sahod ko, ngunit sa isang iglap ito'y naipagpalit sa Macarthur, ang bagong aklat mula kay Bob Ong.

Natapos ko ring basahin ang Macarthur nung gabing 'yon, pansamantala kong itinigil ang pagbabasa ng Kaleidoscope ni Danielle Steele. At ito'ng malupit na sikreto: first time kong magbasa ng aklat ni DS!

Hindi ko maiwasang ihalintulad ang kwento ng Macarthur sa Trainspotting - pelikulang tumatalakay sa drugs at pagkakaibigan. May mga eksena dito na parang galing sa pelikulang 'yun. Sa Macarthur naalala ko rin ang style ni Edgar Reyes na sumulat ng Kung Ano ang Bawal, at Nagbabagang Luha. At hindi ko rin maiwasang marinig ang boses ni Cracked kapag may eksenang nagmumura ang mga bida! Pakiramdam ko nga'y nasa likod ko lang si Cracked at nakikibasa...pero hindi po, hindi po ako nakapagbato tulad ng mga tauhan sa Macarthur.

Nakakaaliw basahin ang kwento ng barkada nina Cyrus, Jim, Voltron at Noel. Pero nalungkot din ako nang malaman ang sinapit ni Lolo Justo. Puno ng pag-asa, sagana din sa mapait na katotohanan.

Subukan nyong basahin at nang makilala nyo si Macarthur.



"Batung-bato ka na ba? Rock-rockan na!"

While almost everybody spent their Holy Week travelling somewhere or simply doing their 'tika' thing, I spent mine 'rockin'! I just stayed home, turn on the player and played Jesus Christ Supestar VCD. Since the TV's not working, again, I used my imagination just like I did with Sunset Blvd. It's becoming a hobby, hard thing to do but I'm getting used to it. I listened to JCS album several times already (since I was in high school), and I've seen the movie twice but that was a long time ago. I can't remember everything.

JCS was the most creative in retelling the story of Jesus Christ before he was crucified. Better than the usual Jesus movies, way much better than Mel Gibson's. JCS stands out because it has style, great music & libretto, costumes - imagine Jesus appearing in the 70's, ain't he cool?! There's one teenie-weenie flaw in this movie, Jesus sounds hysterical. The actor who played Judas Iscariot showed confusion, doubts and sorrow through his singing, galing!!!

I've some favorite lines:
JESUS CHRIST: Why are you obsessed with fighting, stick to fishing from now on...(Hah! A message for GW Bush?! Or for the attention-seeking terror groups?!)

And then there's JUDAS: Everytime I look at you I don't understand
Why you let the things you did get so out of hand
You'd have managed better if you'd had it planned
Why'd you choose such a backward time and such a strange land?
If you'd come TODAY you would have reached a whole nation
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication
Don't you get me wrong - I only want to know
(Makes me think, why didn't Jesus come today? It would've been easier if he just post here in Multiply and tell us the gospel, or email us or text with mms pa.)

(It's simply wonderful! The libretto in this part is perfect, the music - comical yet fits the scene. It'll make you sing along, and end up doubting JC too.)

Even if the movie and music was made in the 70's, today 2005, Jesus Christ Superstar still rocks!

LITLOVER lent me another musical in audio CD. Since it's just an audio CD, I can only write about the story, music and a little about the cast. This was quite a challenge for I use an extensive imagination to understand the story.

STORY: Norma Desmond (Glenn Close), a 'has been' actress of the entertainment industry planning for a comeback, but she'd rather put it as a return, through writing a script and star in it (as Salome, 16 yrs. old). She hired Joe Gillis (Alan Campbell), who just happened to stumble in her neglected mansion, to edit the script for her. He, an ambitious but lost in love was eventually caught in a world of deceit and obsession.

The story is dark, haunting, sad, depressing...simple but the music made it a little under grandiose (it’s Andrew Lloyd Webber's!). There’s this one song With One Look sung by Norma that eerily creeps into my mind. It’s sad but beautifully rendered. I didn’t know that Glenn Close could sing. Her character here isn’t far-out of her Cruela De Ville in 101 Dalamatians (and I can also imagine the face of my terror professor when I was in college).

I just hope this musical will be shown here, I want to see the ‘shabby from neglect’ mansion, the booklet shows an extravagant set. And maybe sing with Norma as she sings With One Look, and know what else I need to know about Sunset Blvd.

Busy? In a hurry? No time to stay in the kitchen for more than 10 minutes? Just grab a Moon Dish Laing (Taro leaves in coconut cream with Tuna Flakes, Hot & Spicy) and your can opener.

This laing in can tastes like your Bicolano neighbor's specialty. It's appetizingly hot! Well, REALLY HOT! But if you're not used to this kind of hotness, you'll feel your soul slipping away from your shaking flesh on your first bite. The taro leaves are still crunchy and juicy despite the fact that it went through a lot of preserving processes, I wonder how'd they do that?

Why?! Why're my ears being punished by this song? What have I done wrong? Wherever I go, it's playing somewhere...aaaarrrggghhh!!!

A lousy song from a lousy artist, no, Sandara is not an artist! The music simply sucks. Where's the art? Where's the music? Music ba talaga 'to?

Actually, there's nothing to review or to rate in this song. But why waste my time on this? Gusto ko lang tigbakin 'yung kanta in a mild-manner. Hehe...praning.
